Drank too much red wine again. How does this happen?
Trouble with drinking too much red wine, quite apart from the charming hangover I am enjoying right now, is that it leads to other things. Things like consuming nearly an entire block of brie cheese, and all the emergency chocolate in one sitting, whilst staying up late and watching 2 episodes of Desperate Housewives back to back. It's a slippery slope.

The Return
Yes, I'm back. It has been a scandalously long time since I was here, but I do have an excuse. My computer broke down completely. I know it sounds a bit like a 21st century version of the dog ate my homework, but it's true. It actually took me a while to accept that my computer really had died - I went through all the classic symptoms, denial, shock, anger, buying useless fix-it disks off ebay, the works. But nothing did work. I did try everything, and naturally took it personally that my computer, which I have treated with nothing but the utmost respect all these years, would not respond to my efforts to save its life. I would leave it alone for days, then try to boot it up, thinking, that maybe, just maybe, some magical electrical-impulse type miracle would occur this time, my familiar wallpaper would display and all would be forgiven. Such was my refusal to accept its demise, that I actually transported a dead computer to my new home when I moved before Xmas. And it is heavy, let me tell you - we're talking one of those ridiculouly large monitors, a massive base unit, and the accessories. I was so busy at the time, and I just thought, given some time, I'll get into that damn DOS and fix this thing, despite my lack of knowledge in these matters. Once I had failed on every count, I still didn't lose hope completely - I thought, well, what do I pay my insurance premium for? Why don't I give them a call and sort this whole thing out the easy way?
You know what's coming, don't you? Of course I wasn't covered. If I had 'accidentally' dropped the pc from a great hight, which in hindsight, is exactly what I should have done in the first place, then, then I would have been covered. Where was my head that day? Still the ordeal is all over now. I have let go, and am working on a beautifully streamlined and lightweight laptop, which was very generously donated. It's a little temperamental, but who would have a computer any other way?
But I'm slightly off track, aren't I? The main point of all this is to tell you that I have returned and will be posting with a vengeance from now on. Honest.
